Dermal Fillers
What Are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are injectable gels made from hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in the body, that helps retain moisture and elasticity. In podiatry, these fillers can be used to:
· Restore lost fat padding
· Reduce pressure and pain from footwear or standing for long hours
· Alleviate corns and calluses by adding cushioning to bony areas
Who Can Benefit from Dermal Fillers?
You may be a good candidate for dermal filler injections if you experience:
· Fat pad atrophy (loss of natural cushioning in the feet)
· Calluses or corns caused by excessive pressure
· Bony bumps or prominences leading to discomfort in shoes
What to Expect During Treatment
The procedure is quick, minimally invasive, and performed in our clinic. Our podiatrist may apply a numbing agent before treatment, they will carefully inject the filler into the targeted areas along with some local anaesthetic. The process typically takes 15-30 minutes, and most patients can return to normal activities immediately. You may need a lift home as you need to wait 3-4 hours for any anaesthetic to wear off before you are insured to drive.

Dermal fillers provide immediate results, with optimal benefits appearing within a few days. Depending on the individual, results can last 6 to 12 months, with maintenance treatments available as needed.
